Coffee with the Entrepreneurs
(Academic)
Bring a friend and join other students interested in entrepreneurship and creativity! Connect over coffee, juice or tea and a free breakfast as you listen to a real world entrepreneur who will share the story of how they started their own venture. Located inside the Start-Up Studio at the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the event will run from 8:30-9:30am on April 27th and is Free and open to students in any major, staff and faculty.  Claire Bruce of Sloan & Themis Co., will speak on her entrepreneurial successes and challenges. Claire began her career in consumer products working for ConAgra as a Promotional Analyst and grew into a role as Director of Market Research for SymphonyIRI’s consulting division. Today, the market research firm she started, Merchapolitan, helps organizations big and small; grow their businesses through gaining more information about their customers and markets. Claire has worked with companies such as HP, Microsoft, Starbucks, Sonic, Walgreens, HEB, SuperValu, Cinnabon, and Nestle. In November 2011, Claire started Sloan & Themis Co. to offer women a unique and timeless create-your-own alternative to big-name fashion labels. Sloan & Themis Co. store is opening on April 27, 2012 and will offer vintage jewelry, beads, and other craft supplies.  Claire is originally from Kennett, MO and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2000 with a degree in Engineering. She now lives in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO. RSVP on the CIE Facebook Page and be entered to win a free prize!
