UMSL English Professor Presenting Hamblin Lecture April 10

The Second Annual Dr. Robert W. Hamblin Lecture, in conjunction with the Department of English, will be held Tuesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom A. This year's speaker, Dr. Sylvia Jenkins Cook, professor of English at University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL), will present an illustrated lecture, "Literary Dress and Southern Modernism: William Faulkner and Erskine Caldwell," which examines the functions of style, fashion and clothing in the South of the Modernist period and particularly in the works of Faulkner and Caldwell.  Inquiries may be sent to Dr. Christopher Rieger, Hamblin Lecture Committee chair, at crieger@semo.edu.
