KRCU at Southeast Missouri State University announces plans to host a free folk music concert as the kick-off event to the station's fall fundraising campaign.
"Folkapalooza" will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 7 to 10 p.m. in Rose Theatre on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The free event will highlight area musicians who are volunteering their time to support KRCU. The performers will offer those in attendance an opportunity to purchase CDs of their music.
Scheduled to appear are Carter & Connelly, The Gordons, Dan and Abbie Fieser, Barefoot on Sunday, The Doc Hands, The Chestnut Mountain Gang, Doug E. Rees and Fred Wilferth with "The Drooling Banjos." All of the performances will be recorded for later broadcast on KRCU's locally produced folk music program "Your Folk Connection," which airs Saturday nights at 7 p.m. The event is being sponsored by Buchheit, C106 Radio and Ken Earl Productions.
