St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Musicians Performing as Guest Artists Today at Southeast
(Fine Arts)
The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra’s William James and Peter Henderson will be the featured musicians in the Guest Artists Recital at Southeast Missouri State University March 25. The recital takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus.  The two musicians will perform pieces by Forrest Pierce, John Psathas and Astor Piazzolla, and an arrangement by Bob Becker.  James, a xylophonist, is one of the country’s youngest principal percussionists. He received the position when he was just 25 years old after receiving his bachelor’s degree in music from Northwestern University in 2004 and his master’s degree from New England Conservatory in 2006.  He played with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Fla., before moving to St. Louis. Henderson is an assistant professor of music at Maryville University and a versatile pianist, having performed in solo, chamber and orchestral settings.  He performs as a keyboardist and a subscription-concert soloist with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.  He also gives pre-concert perspectives on the Powell Symphony Hall stage prior to many subscription concerts. Tickets Tickets may be purchased at the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S.
