2nd Stage Production: Psycho Beach Party

Written by Charles Busch, this play is a parody of 1960s beach movies and 1970s slasher films and was adapted into a movie in 2000. The Southeast production will be directed by student Jake Ferree.

Set in 1962, "Psycho Beach Party," is the story of Florence "Chicklet" Forrest a Malibu Beach teenager who wants to learn to surf. Forrest suffers from multiple personality disorder triggered by the color red. Her frequent blackouts cause her to fear she may be responsible when her town is plagued by a series of mysterious murders.

Joined by a group of surfers lead by the great Kanaka and including a runaway B-movie actress, she sets out to learn the truth. The root of her psychosis is revealed at a wild luau in the productions shocking conclusion.

This play contains adult language and adult subject matter.
