Museum Offering Portrait Oil Painting workshop for Adults
(Fine Arts)

The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus will offer portrait oil painting workshops for adults beginning Nov. 30.

Artist Cleda Curtis-Neal will present the workshops on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon beginning Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 through Dec. 21 and 22.

Beginning as well as advanced artists will benefit from this dynamic and rewarding four-week learning experience. Lessons will include: shape and line identification, compositional design, lighting subject and background, mixing fleshtone values and forming facial features.

Curtis-Neal became internationally known for her book “Portrait Painting Simplified” published in 1988. She earned a bachelor of arts from University of the Ozarks and a master of arts from Portland State University. She has also studied under respected portrait artists Daniel Greene and John Howard Sanden. She also owns and operates a private art school and has been teaching portrait painting since 1970.
