In the Boom Boom Room
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will perform "In the Boom Boom Room," a production written by David Rabe. The play focuses on the darker side of American life. It has been nominated for a Tony Award and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best American Play. Amy Fritsche, Southeast assistant professor of musical theatre/acting/directing, will direct the production.
The "In the Boom Boom Room" centers on the life of a young woman named Chrissy who moves to Philadelphia in the 1960s seeking stardom. After failing to find work she takes a job as a go go dancer in a night club. Dancing at Big Tom's Boom Boom Room plunges Chrissy into a world of sex, violence, and drugs.
This play contains adult language and adult subject matter.
