Harvard Professor Discussing Upcoming Election Oct. 27 at Southeast

Dr. Thomas Patterson, a Bradlee professor of government and press at Harvard University, will visit Southeast Missouri State University Oct. 27 to speak with students about the 2010 elections. Patterson’s presentation is scheduled for  noon on Wednesday, Oct. 27, in Room 121 of Rhodes Hall of Science. Admission is free and open to the public.   Patterson plans to discuss what he believes will be the results of the upcoming election cycle, and the role of public opinion in explaining the outcome. The event is being sponsored by the Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Religion. Patterson is a nationally-known scholar of campaigns and elections who holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota. He is the author of The Vanishing Voter, which looks at the causes and consequences of electoral participation.
