Advanced Technology Showcase
(Academic)
The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology at Southeast Missouri State University will host an “Advanced Technology Showcase” from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, in the Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building.
The Showcase will allow interested students—especially high school juniors and seniors in chemistry, physics, upper-level math, computers, industrial technology, and career and technology center subjects—to meet Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology faculty, staff and students who will highlight the building's state-of-the-art facilities and technology with personal demonstrations being conducted throughout the building. Students can also speak with academic and career advisors.
Several learning opportunities will be afforded at the Showcase. Prospective students can learn about robotics, mechanical and manufacturing engineering technology, computer-aided engineering, laser technology and reverse engineering, sustainable energy systems management, rapid prototyping and product design, electrical and electronic engineering technology, advanced electrical controls, Web design, computer graphics and animation (2D and 3D), commercial photography, computer networking and telecommunication, wireless networking, construction management and architectural design, FTC Robotics Competition information, and more.
Prospective students also can learn about the programs and majors the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology has to offer. The programs include: Commercial Photography, Engineering Technology (ABET/TAC accredited), Technology Management (ATMAE accredited), Industrial Education, the AAS in Computer Technology (A+ scholarship available) and pre-professional programs.
Students in the Engineering Technology major may choose an option in Electrical and Control or Mechanical and Manufacturing Systems. The Technology Management major offers five options, including Computer and Multimedia Graphics, Construction Management and Design, Industrial Management, Sustainable Energy Systems Management, and Telecommunications and Computer Networking. The AAS in Computer Technology program has three options, including Automated Manufacturing, Microcomputer Systems and Technical Computer Graphics. Finally, there is a pre-professional program in Pre-Architecture.
Lunch will not be provided. Instructors and faculty planning to bring their students should RSVP at (573) 651-2104 or dsquires@semo.edu. For more information, call (573) 651-2104 or (573) 986-6746.
