A VIEW OF THE CURRENT STATE OF POLITICSFEATURING PAT BUCHANAN AND TOM DASCHLEPart of the 2010-11 Southeast Missouri State University Speaker SeriesSeptember 30 at 7:30 p.m.  Patrick Buchanan is a leading political analyst, commentator, and former director of communications for the Reagan White House. In 1992, he challenged George Bush for the Republican nomination and almost upset the president in the New Hampshire primary. In 1996, he won the New Hampshire primary, and went on to finish second to Senator Bob Dole, having received three million Republican votes.   Tom Daschle was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1978, serving eight years. He was one of the first members of Congress to serve in a Democratic Leadership position in his first term of office as a regional whip. In 1986, he was elected to the US Senate and two years later, became the first co-chairman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee and the first South Dakotan to be elected to a leadership position in the US Congress.   WHEN:  September 30 at 7:30 p.m.DOORS OPEN:  6:30 p.m.TICKET PRICES: Free for Southeast Missouri State University students, faculty and staff with valid university ID card.  $10 for public admission.AVAILABILITY:  Tickets on sale Thursday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m.MORE INFORMATION:  www4.semo.edu/campuslife/speakers.htm
