 TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA: BEETHOVEN'S LAST NIGHT 2012 TOUR

March 22 at 7:30 PM

Following last year’s triumphant debut, Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) is returning to the stage this spring with “Beethoven’s Last Night.” The band is taking the show to Europe for the first time and then back to the US for an 8 week tour.

TSO Founder Paul O’Neill has been working on a concept he likes to call “Rock Theater.” The material for “Rock Theater” began when Paul O’Neill and TSO set their sites on one of the most beloved and important composers the world has ever seen, Ludwig van Beethoven.

TSO Creator / Writer / Producer Paul O’Neill explains, “ I was always fascinated by Beethoven. Beethoven did not come from a rich family, made his way to Vienna which at that time was the capitol of the musical world, and by the time he was 21 was recognized as one of the greatest piano players in the world by the likes of Mozart. By the time he was 25, he realized he was going completely deaf and if he had just crawled into a corner and given up on life, nobody would have judged him harshly. But instead he went on to write some of the greatest music that has ever been created, music that would bring joy, happiness, peace to countless billions people but that he himself would never hear.”

O’Neill created a theatrical experience that combined with arena rock takes this new genre to unprecedented levels. Here is just a sample of what the press had to say about “Beethoven’s Last Night” in concert:

“The Show is a symphonic slam...with its intricate plot and dazzling stylistic breadth”- BOSTON HERALD

"The most extravagant tribute from one musician to another could well be 'Beethoven's Last Night'. High-tech as it is, it is also heartfelt." - THE BUFFALO NEWS

"Expertly delivered, impeccably produced, perfectly choreographed, artfully synchronized"-THE GRAND RAPIDS PRESS

Also in the works is a new special for PBS called “The Birth Of Rock Theater” which will air this March. The special will focus on O’Neill’s vision for TSO and how he went about creating this new art form. The show will feature live performances from “Beethoven’s Last Night” as well as their most recent album “Night Castle” which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Charts. In the near future, look for O’Neill to open a slew of shows to go on the road and be recorded. Songs from “Gutter Ballet and the New York City Blues Express” were premiered on this past winter tour to close to a million people. “Romanov: When Kings Must Whisper” is another project being worked on from TSO’s Rock Theater arsenal.
