High School Dance Students Invited to Attend Dance Day

Prospective Southeast Missouri State University students interested in majoring in dance are invited to attend Dance Day 2012, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance, on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast’s River Campus.
The event allows high school students to experience dance in a college environment. They will be exposed to a day devoted to dance during which they will experience new movement and ideas, meet new people, witness creativity, and learn why dance is a vital part of any education.
The event is free and open to all dance students in grades 9-12. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the River Campus Cultural Arts Center lobby. Participants will have the opportunity to attend two free master classes, ballet and jazz from 9-10:30 a.m. and modern from 10:45-11:30 a.m., taught by Southeast’s professional dance faculty. After the master classes, high school seniors are invited to attend the departmental dance scholarship auditions.
In addition, all Dance Day participants will receive free tickets to the afternoon performance of “Fall for Dance 2012,” scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the University’s River Campus.
