(Fine Arts)
“Always Singing” is the theme of the University Choir and Chamber Choir performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
“Always Singing” is also the title of the final piece on the program, written by Dale Warland.
“I used this for the theme of the concert, as the repertoire spans the historical periods as well as the globe,” said Peter Durow, Director of Choral Activities.
The concert will feature choral music by Tomás Luis da Victoria, Adrian Batten, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Warland, among others.
Faculty performers include Sara Edgerton, cello; Paul Thompson, flute; and Mary Van Hoet-Miller, piano. Other collaborating instrumentalists are Tiffany Hennings, piano; Jace Walz, flute; and Lindsey Wilkins, violin.
The 50-voice University Choir is the premiere vocal ensemble at Southeast; the 16-voice Chamber Choir performs choral music most appropriately sung by a small group.
