Southeast Hosting High School Speech, Debate and Theater Tournament March 2-3

The Department of Communication Studies at Southeast Missouri State University will again host the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Region 7 speech, debate and theater tournament at the University Center on Friday, March 2 and at Jackson High School on Saturday, March 3. More than 230 students from 22 schools will compete in a variety of events including literary events, public speaking events, debate and group interpretation. Judges include faculty, staff and students of Southeast, as well as members of the local community. Qualifiers advance to statewide competition, to be held in Columbia in April. Participating schools include Bernie High School, Bloomfield High School, Cape Girardeau Central High School, New Madrid County Central High School, Park Hills Central High School, Clearwater High School, Crystal City High School, Dexter High School, Doniphan High School, Farmington High School, Festus High School, Fox High School, Hillsboro High School, Jackson High School, Naylor High School, Poplar Bluff High School, Scott City High School, Seckman High School, Sikeston High School, Ste. Genevieve High School and Zalma High School.
