Coffee with the Entrepreneurs: John Buckner, owner of the Broadway Esquire Entertainment Group, will be the guest speaker. 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall, River Campus
A native of Farmington, John Buckner is a natural entrepreneur with a long career in the arts community. Having lived and worked in multiple cities including New York, Beverly Hills, Nashville and New Orleans, Buckner has now brought his innovative spirit to Cape Girardeau with a mission to revive the downtown area. Buckner has been investing his time and energy in several projects, including the Esquire Theater, a diner, and an up-scale restaurant. “There is a growing movement of entrepreneurial people generating new ideas and seeking better ways of doing things in all sectors of our economy and society,” said Dr. James Stapleton, executive director of Southeast’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. “National Entrepreneurship Week is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the role of entrepreneurs and to reflect on the impact of entrepreneurship on our national and regional economy.”
