Exhibiting Excellence 34th Annual High School Art Exhibition

The 34th Annual High School Art Exhibition will be displayed on Feb. 12 in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The exhibition showcases the talents of junior and senior high school students from southern Illinois and southeast Missouri. A reception for the artists in this exhibition will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 12. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibit will be on display through March 11.
This year’s juror is Terrance Thomure. Thomure earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree with an emphasis in art education from Washington University. He previously taught in the Art Department of the Affton School District for over 25 years and in the Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville for five years. Currently, he teaches in the Fine Arts Department at Thomas Jefferson School.
Thomure has held the position of chairman of the Secondary Education Division for the Missouri Art Education Association and the same position for the National Art Education Association. He has served on the Missouri Art Education Association council for 20 years and was honored as Missouri Art Educator of the Year in 2005.
The museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
