Horizons 2011 (ages 9-14): Wilderness Survival for Kids
(Entertainment)
Instructor: Michael Gurnow, Department of English
Prepare yourself for the unexpected! Learn how to build a shelter, find and purify water, make rope, build fires, find food and more! Never again be afraid of getting lost in the woods and not knowing what to do. Learn direction-finding with a map and compass, the sun or moon, and maybe even GPS. You will come away knowing how to handle yourself if you are lost or stranded or just doing some extended exploring.
*Parents should arrange for students to be dropped off and picked up at Trail of Tears State Park each day.
